I'm an award-winning writer and media relations consultant based in the greater New York City area.  I create content for all platforms, including social media, blogs, websites and print.

As a media relations consultant, I help clients develop mutually beneficial relationships with editors, producers, bloggers and other decision makers who can draw attention to their product or cause. I provide pitches/press releases; long- and short-form content; advice on messaging and social media strategy; and detailed instructions for how to identify and target audiences.

My experience includes working as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the New York City chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society where I led efforts to raise awareness and increase donations to support the organization’s mission.  Over the past 20 years, I have worked as a marketing and PR consultant to dozens of nonprofits and healthcare organizations. I have also lectured at both The New School and Brooklyn College in New York City where I taught journalism and media relations. My extensive experience allows me to create powerful messaging and effective strategies to inform and influence target audiences.

Claire began her career as a freelance journalist writing for The Chicago Tribune and several other high profile publications.  After winning a national award for medical journalism, she was invited to create a communications department and a marketing/PR strategy for the Chicago chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.  As interim director of communications, she devised a comprehensive plan that redirected marketing focus from individual events to compelling individual profiles, effectively putting a “face” on arthritis and raising the chapter’s profile statewide. She also consolidated the media outreach efforts of eight separate departments; developed the chapter’s first media database; successfully pitched stories to targeted media outlets; trained staff on effective public relations; created communications collaterals (website content, newsletters, brochures, etc.); and wrote speeches for leaders given at major fundraising events.

Along the way, Claire has used her storytelling skills and media relations expertise to help numerous nonprofit organizations. She has extensive experience creating powerful content and PR strategies for several of the largest and most prestigious hospitals and national nonprofits, including Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Geisinger Health Systems, Rush University Medical Center, Englewood Health and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Claire worked as a Senior Writer for Lipman Hearne, a Chicago-based marketing communications firm dedicated to higher education and, after moving to New York City, has continued to write for them as a freelancer. Projects include marketing copy and fundraising projects, including case statements and letters.

In 2014  Claire was hired as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the New York City chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society where she helped raise the organization's profile and draw attention to its efforts to fund medical research and support patients and their families.

Claire is a graduate of Northwestern University and The London School of Economics. She is a member of the American Marketing Association and the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA).

Claire provides both marketing/PR advice and content/editing deliverables. Nonprofits and small companies rely on her 20 years of experience and talent for effective messaging and storytelling to inform and influence target audiences. Click on the links for details.
